Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, and Newborn Health (SRMNH) services are lifesaving, essential, and time critical, and are essential components of any humanitarian response, including during infectious disease outbreaks. During an outbreak, health systems are disrupted, while SRMNH needs persist or increase. This dynamic can lead to direct mortality from infectious diseases and indirect mortality from preventable and treatable SRMNH conditions. With support from USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, the READY initiative is welcoming applications for its upcoming Outbreak Readiness and Response: Prioritizing Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn Health (SRMNH) Services in Humanitarian Settings training to strengthen capacity to ensure continuity and prioritization of SRMNH services during major disease outbreaks in humanitarian settings.
The in-person, four and a half day trainings will take place in Abuja, Nigeria from December 2 - 6th 2024.
The goal of this training is to equip participants with the operational knowledge and skills to ensure the continuity, quality, and safety of healthcare for women and girls of reproductive age and their newborns during an infectious disease outbreak in humanitarian and fragile settings. The training will include interactive exercises that link to an evolving outbreak scenario in a humanitarian setting, allowing learners to apply what they have learned and reflect on operational considerations for SRMNH services.
For more details about the training objectives and approach, eligibility, and expected commitments from participating individuals, view/download the training flyer (392KB .pdf).
If you meet the selection criteria, please complete the application using this online form by November 3rd.
Please note that successful applicants will need to confirm:
While there is no training fee, selected individuals will need to commit to attending the full in-person training to participate. READY will support tea breaks and lunch for all days of the training. READY has limited funding available to support travel and/or accommodation costs for local/national organizations for those traveling outside of Abuja. This funding will be considered on an as-needed basis and requests for support can be made on the application form.
