Man taken to hospital with slash wounds after attack as police cordon off pathway

A man has been taken to hospital with slash wounds after being attacked by a gang of men as police guard the scene of an incident along a path in Stockton.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a reported assault at Doncaster Crescent, Ragworth, Stockton, at 11.35pm last night.

They arrived to find man who said he had been attacked by up to five males. He was treated at the scene for arm and hand injuries described as having been caused by a bladed instrument.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees for treatment, as police cordoned off a pathway.

Police are now appealing for information or footage has inquiries into the assault continue.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Doncaster Crescent at 11.35pm last night (Friday 25th October) where a 46-year-old man reported he'd been on the green space nearby before being attacked by a group of four or five males.

"The victim had sustained arm and hand injuries caused by a bladed weapon and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees by ambulance so he could receive treatment.

"If anyone was in the area at the time or captured the group of males or the incident itself on doorbell, dashcam or private CCTV and has not yet spoken to police, please contact us on the 101 number quoting ref 205082.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an incident on Doncaster Crescent, Stockton shortly before 11.30 last night (Friday 25 October).

"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and a patient was taken to North Tees Hospital."
