Mentoring is one of the most meaningful ways to make a positive impact on the life of a young person. Since 1973, The Buddy Program has empowered youth through mentoring experiences to achieve their full potential. There are now four distinct mentoring programs offered through the organization, including the Buddy Pairs who recently gathered for an annual Celebration Dinner, which took place at the Caribou Club.
All enjoyed an opportunity to dress up for the occasion, enjoy the club's sensational cuisine -- complemented by a popular chocolate fountain for dessert -- hit the dance floor, and engage in friendly competition at the blackjack table.
"Beyond the fun and games, the Celebration Dinner honored the friendships that have blossomed through mentoring," said Jennifer Balmes, marketing and communications manager. "Whether pairs had been together for years or just a few months, the evening celebrated the meaningful connections that make the program so impactful, including the Summit Awards for six graduating seniors. The event also recognized Chris Striefel, the recipient of the Inspiration Award; and Sydney Schalit, Bryan Alvarez, and Kelly Michnols Kurry of Manaus, honored with the Champion Award, for their unwavering support and dedication to the Buddy Program."
