Jets $10 million playmaker could be perfect trade target for Chiefs

Jets $10 million playmaker could be perfect trade target for Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are already one of the best teams in football.

When you have Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, that's going to happen.

Kansas City is 5-0 on the season and currently is on its bye week. The Chiefs will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 20, as they take on the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of last year's Super Bowl.

The Chiefs came away victorious in the Super Bowl, and another win would propel their record to 6-0 on the season. Although everything seems great on paper, the Chiefs could use a boost on offense.

Kansas City has been dealing with injuries in the wide receiver room, with Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and Rashee Rice both out right now. Because of this, the Chiefs have been mentioned in trade rumors over the last few weeks.

It seems like trade season is starting early, with both Davante Adams and Amari Cooper moved on Tuesday. The Chiefs need to act fast if they want to add a playmaker, and one player who could make some sense is New York Jets receiver Mike Williams.

Now that the Jets have Adams, Williams reportedly is available, according to FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

"Sources: The Jets are planning to make (wide receiver) Mike Williams available for trade after acquiring Davante Adams," Schultz said. "Williams signed a 1-year deal this offseason, and the current receiver room is just too crowded."

Williams is on a one-year, $10 million deal and could give the Chiefs an affordable receiver on the outside. Kansas City saw plenty of him as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers. Why not bring him in?
