Nearly 300 ag groups send letter to Congress about the importance of ag inputs
The director of government affairs at the American Soybean Association says keeping ag issues in front of Congress during its lame duck session is crucial.
Kyle Kunkler says nearly 300 ag groups signed a letter to members of the House and Senate Ag Committees about ag input misconceptions.
"It helped to provide some really clear examples as to why not just farmers, but pesticide users, including consumers, residential, and commercial users as well," he says.
He tells Brownfield ag groups want to make sure inputs are protected as Congress resumes budget discussions.
"We've always advocated for science wanting to make sure that there is good science and risk based policy surrounding these tools and these inputs," he says. "There's certainly a number of provisions that are at play in a number of different vehicles that might be moving in lame duck."
Kunkler says the organization hopes Congress considers how important inputs are to farmers and consumers when making decisions during lame duck.
