ROCHESTER, Minn. For Lego fanatics they have a new option to explore in Rochester as in the southeastern location near Walmart, Bricks and Minifigs is opening a new location. It's a buy, sell and trade retailer with the goal of selling affordable Legos.
The store is owned by husband and wife Rob and Mindy Warland. They're from Roseville and have a shop up there. Rob says their 14 year old son is a huge Lego maniac and knows firsthand how expensive Legos can be. He says he wants more kids to experience building Legos as it can be intellectually stimulating.
"There's a lot of engineering that goes into it," said Rob. "You see how kids minds work and a lot of kids want to follow instructions that way who are very creative and once they learn what pieces they have they can build their own thing."
He also says adults benefit from building Legos. They will have a party room where birthday parties and summer classes will be held. Mindy says she's excited for a place where the community can come together and share their passion for Legos.
"You get the regular people in here," said Mindy. "You get to build relationships with them and we get to hear their stories. What lego means to them? It's fun to hear the retiree and hear they needed to do something in retirement and decided to build a lego."
The grand opening will take place Nov.16 at 221 28th St. SE, Suite 800, Rochester, MN 55904 from 10AM-7PM. Visitors can enter a raffle and the store will be giving away a few Lego sets to customers.
