Sources say a man was tased at a local elementary school while it was in session yesterday.
Desert Passage resident Amara Wilson reports a man was tased outside of Maricopa Elementary School, where she said her sister works and was a witness.
"The other teachers saw a man get tased at recess," Wilson said.
Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams said this morning the reported tasing was related to a theft at the Circle K gas station and convenience store about 700 yards east of the school on John Wayne Parkway at Bowlin Road.
"There was a theft at the Circle K over by Copper Sky and they encountered the guy over by the elementary school," Williams said. The school is at 18150 N. Alterra Parkway.
"I don't know everything that played out, but he was taken into custody at the elementary school," Williams said.
