'The Crown' Writer Meriel Sheibani-Clare Signs With Artists First

EXCLUSIVE: Following her Emmy nomination for her work on the final season of Netflix's The Crown, writer Meriel Sheibani-Clare has taken on U.S. representation and signed with Artists First.

Sheibani-Clare began writing for the hit series The Crown in its fourth season. Her episode "Ritz," co-written with Peter Morgan for the drama's final season, was nominated for a 2024 Emmy Award under the category of, "Outstanding Writing For Drama Series," and a Humanitas Prize. She and Morgan will continue their partnership on a new project they are currently writing for Netflix.

Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Sheibani-Clare earned her BA in English Literature from Oxford University and her MA in Modern Literature from Queen Mary. She began her writing career on PBS's long-running adaptation Poirot, centered around Agatha Christie's famous detective, before joining the network's adaptation of Christie's Miss Marple.

Previously, Sheibani-Clare was in the writers' room for Roughcut and Fremantle's upcoming series Little Disasters, based on the book by Sarah Vaughan (Anatomy of a Scandal) and slated for release on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland. She also worked on the second season of Everything Now, a British teen comedy-drama series for Netflix.

She joins Artists First's roster of UK-based clients, which includes Ursula Rani Sarma (The Split Up), Nick Murphy (A Spy Among Friends), Samson Kayo (Bloods), David Hancock (House of the Dragon), and Holly Walsh (Motherland). The company also represents fellow Crown alum Jonathan Wilson, whose episodes of the show have been nominated for multiple WGA awards.

She lives in London with her husband and children.

Sheibani-Clare continues to be represented by Jennie Miller at Independent Talent Group in the UK.
