In this monthly series with Hypetime, Chrono24 will be providing background on some of the most coveted luxury watches in the pre-owned market based on real-time findings from its global marketplace.
Every month, five models will be spotlighted by Chrono24's in-house experts. The selection is based on monthly analytics, with each piece meeting all four criteria: 1) The watch must receive a critical mass of supply as well as demand, 2) There must be a significant percentage increase in inquiries and offers compared to the previous month as the reference period, 3) The search queries for the watch model must exceed a critical threshold defined from the data set, 4) The available listings per model must exceed a critical threshold defined from the data set.
Read on for the most hyped watches on Chrono24 in October.
With a 39mm case, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon is a timeless dress watch that is slim, elegant and light on wrists.
The Ultra Thin Moon is an example of minimalist design that is anything but effortless -- its deep blue moonphase is delicately accented by its beveled edges, silvered gray dial and blue steel seconds hand. Chrono24 saw demand peak at its highest since the start of 2023, separately more than 25% over its previous peak in April. Not only that, it has also been spotted on the wrists of many, from the likes of actors Ethan Hawke and Evan Peters, to filmmaker Terry Gilliam.
Calling all Interstellar fans, this one's for you! Worn by the film's hero, Murph (Jessica Chastain), Hamilton's offering delighted fans upon its 2014 release and the excitement hasn't quelled. Best known for its subtle yet cherished lacquering on the seconds hand, which is imbued with the film's "Eureka" Morse Code.
Suitable for sci-fi lovers and Hamilton enthusiasts alike, the reference also appeals to first-time watch buyers, thanks to its compelling price. This 38mm unisex timepiece features a black dial and leather strap with khaki-colored Super LumiNova hands. Similarly to the JLC model above, Chrono24 saw demands peak at its highest since the start of 2023, separately up more than 25% over its previous peak in April of this year.
Cartier-mania continues to reign over the watch world as the Santos De Cartier W2SA0016 joins the surge of popularity. Offering a gold and stainless steel combo that's perfect for everyday wear, this model also wears well for most wrist sizes. Its design sports Cartier's iconic exposed screws around a gently squared bezel and along the entire bracelet.
A classic since its intro in 1904 made by Cartier for Alberto Santos-Dumont, it's now regularly sported by the likes of Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal. The popularity of this model on Chrono24 has doubled since 2023 with no signs of slowing down.
The Longines Automatic Hydroconquest Blue is a cool addition to this month's round-up. The heritage brand isn't well known for its diver options, but the Hydroconquest has actually been around since 2007 and contends with some of the best-of divers with a 300m water resistance.
The versatility of this watch is one of its best assets, making it a personal favorite of Longines Ambassador, Rege-Jean Page on and off the red carpet. At Chrono24, demand for the Hydroconquest peaked last month, surpassing its former highest demand earlier in January 2024.
The watch world's general synopsis of the Tudor Prince Oysterdate is that it's the go-to and slightly easier-on-the-wallet alternative to its sister brand, Rolex's famed Date-Just. At 34mm, this timepiece is perfectly unisex with a clean feel. The Oyster Prince was introduced back in 1952 and has earned a following all of its own, outside of the crown enthusiasts. Known for its comfort and its expertly simple aesthetic, Chrono24 saw demands for the Tudor Prince Oysterdate peak last month, with 5 times more demand as compared to the start of 2023 for the very same timepiece.
