A driver was ejected from his vehicle and killed in a crash late Friday in the Nichols area.
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a single-vehicle crash about 10:12 p.m. to Pee Dee Highway between Highway 917 and Lake Swamp Road, according to a Facebook post from the fire department.
The vehicle overturned and the driver was thrown from the vehicle, the post said.
Abron Stroud, 47, of Nichols, died in the wreck, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said in an email.
Stroud's vehicle left the road and he over-corrected, causing his vehicle to flip, Willard said. Stroud was not wearing his seat belt; he suffered blunt force trauma and died at the scene.
A passenger was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to an email from Cpl. David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
