A big-name business has announced they are moving into a new Fishkill, New York location.
Over the last few years the Hudson Valley has undergone some major changes when it comes to the businesses and restaurants we can shop or eat at. We've shared numerous stories of businesses that recently announced they were closing after many years. There were locally owned restaurants in Beacon, and New Paltz, NY that have shuttered. Big names like Big Lots and TGI Fridays are closing numerous Hudson Valley locations, along with one Hudson Valley town closing almost every business in its Towne Center.
Earlier this year we learned that Hudson Valley Towne Center on Route 9 in Fishkill was losing many of the businesses that called the center home for many years. Famous Footwear, 18 North Grill, the New York State Lottery Claim Center, and the Regal Cinemas 10 movie theater have all recently closed in Fishkill. Soon after they closed many started to speculate if any new businesses would be moving in to fill all of the vacant spaces.
We have learned that a portion of the vacant space at the Hudson Valley Towne Center located at the intersection of Route 9 and Interstate 84 in Fishkill will soon be occupied by a familiar name in exercise. According to Royal Properties, the gym giant Planet Fitness has signed a new long-term lease to occupy 16,500 square feet of space at the Hudson Valley Towne Center in Fishkill, New York. David Landes, Principal of Royal Properties made the announcement saying, "We are pleased to bring Planet Fitness to this thriving Dutchess County market along highly trafficked Route 9 and with easy access to I-84."
They call themselves "The Affordable And Accessible Gym For All. In The Judgement Free Zone" Planet Fitness has quickly become one of the most popular names in exercise across the country offering affordable memberships along with the PF Black Card which allows members to workout at any of their 2,600+ gyms worldwide. The Fishkill location will be the gyms 12th Hudson Valley location joining gyms in Wappingers Falls, LaGrange, Newburgh, Vails Gate, Monroe, Kingston, and Poughkeepsie, New York.
Royal Properties didn't say when the new location would be opening but as soon as that information is available we will update this article.
