Harbour, who plays Red Guardian in the film, presented the trailer to the audience at the event. The Thunderbolts are expected to be Marvel's answer to DC's Suicide Squad -- where both teams are made up of antiheroes and villains in their own universes. The film follows the group as they undergo their own dangerous missions for mankind. The storyline is based on Kurt Busiek's comic series of the same name. With Jake Schreier directing, Kevin Feige is producing alongside executive producers Louis D'Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez and Scarlett Johansson. Eric Pearson who worked on Black Widow, Thor: Ragnarok, Transformers One and The Fantastic Four: First Steps pens the script alongside Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo.
Pugh is slated to reprise her role of Yelena Belova in Black Widow, Stan as the titular Winter Soldier, Olga Kurylenko as Taksmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as the Ghost, Wyatt Russell as John Walker and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as mastermind Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Marvel's superhero tentpole is slated to arrive in theaters next spring, on May 2, 2025. Watch the extended trailer above.
