42-year-old woman identified as victim of Sunday evening auto-ped in south Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department on Tuesday released details about a deadly auto-pedestrian crash where the driver involved fled the scene Sunday evening.

According to police, officers responded shortly after 7:30 p.m. to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 600 block of W. Ben White SVRD EB.

Angela Cantu, 42, was identified by police as the person who died in the crash.

Police said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Cantu was transported to a hospital, where she later died.

This incident is being investigated as Austin's 75th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 80 fatalities.
