Joan Vassos is a 61-year-old school administrator from Maryland. She was on the first season of The Golden Bachelor, but withdrew to go home to take care of family matters. Joan has a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Maryland and was married to her husband, John, for 21 years until he tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer. Now, she's looking for a second chance at love as the franchise's first Golden Bachelorette.
What is The Golden Bachelorette?
The Golden Bachelorette is a spinoff of The Golden Bachelor and The Bachelor reality television competition show, where a man dates a house full of women in hopes of finding his soul mate. At the end of the show, he is expected to choose one woman and propose to her. The Golden Bachelorette, however, turns the tables on the senior version of the show where a woman in her 60s will date 24 men looking for love. Each week, she will award roses to the men she wants to keep around until there is only one left that proposes to her.
