When and Where to Play Monster Hunter Wilds' Open Beta

Monster Hunter Wilds currently has a release date of February 28, 2025. While this may not seem like such a long time away, it's definitely a healthy chunk of time for players to chew on their anticipation. Thankfully, the open beta will be arriving at the perfect time to tide fans over. If the beta test goes well, and all the game's promises are kept, it could even help to get some skeptics on board.

The official Monster Hunter Wilds X (formerly Twitter) account announced that the open beta will begin on October 31 at 8:00 PM PT. Then, it will end a few days later on November 3 at 6:59 PM PT. However, this time frame only applies to the open beta's crossplay support. There will be an early access period for PS5 players which begins on October 28 at 8:00 PM. This early access is definitely good news for the players it applies to, but the game's focus on multiplayer action will undoubtedly draw many more eyes to the crossplay launch.

How to Transfer Save Data from Monster Hunter Wilds' Open Beta

Another detail players should be sure to keep their eyes on is whether one is able to transfer data from the open beta to launch or not. It's not necessarily a huge loss to miss out on progress made during demos and the like, but transferring save data has certainly become the norm at this point. Monster Hunter Wilds has already announced support on this front, although there is a catch.

Unfortunately, the nature of the open beta means that it can't necessarily import the entirety of a player's save data to the full version. Instead, players will be able to transfer character creation data of both their hunter and Palico. This could potentially save meticulous players a couple of hours in character creation once the full version arrives, so Monster Hunter fans will still be in luck.

Monster Hunter Wilds' Open Beta Includes New Hunt and Story Cutscene

Of course, the meat of the Monster Hunter Wilds beta is ultimately in its hunts. There is one hunt that serves as the spotlight of the open beta, and that is the Doshaguma Hunt. Players are tasked with hunting the alpha of a Doshaguma pack, and will be able to explore many of the game's unique features, including free-range exploration and a dual-weapon fighting style. Monster Hunter Wilds' weapon-swapping combat system is one of its biggest appeals, and the open beta will thankfully help players adjust to the change.

Finally, Monster Hunter Wilds also includes a Story Trial within the upcoming open beta. This feature is relatively self-explanatory, although still worth not spoiling. Simply put, players will experience the opening cutscene of Monster Hunter Wilds, as well as the ensuing tutorials. This will allow new players to become more familiar with Monster Hunter, and even veteran players may need to get familiar with new weapon mechanics. Regardless, it will offer a taste of the seamless action promised by Monster Hunter Wilds.
