DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) -- A death investigation is ongoing after a man was found dead on the train tracks on North Range Street in Dothan.
Dothan Police identified the victim as 64-year-old Scottie Earl Jones.
According to Dothan Police, officers found Jones on the train tracks along North Range Street, near the East Main Overpass, after receiving a tip that a man was down on the tracks.
Jones was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say Jones was pinned by the train while attempting to go under the railcars to get to the other side while the train was in motion.
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd tells WDHN Jones's legs were cut off, and he suffered blunt force trauma to his head.
The investigation is ongoing, and officers are waiting for the results of a toxicology report.
