Popular social media platforms Facebook and Instagram from the house of Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta faced major disruption for users across the United States. The outage also affected pockets of users across the globe. Per reports, the Down Detector website showed over 12,000 users reporting issues with Facebook and over 5000 users stating issues with Instagram. Some 63% users reported issues with Facebook login, while 27% users had trouble with the portal itself. 10% of users reported issues with the server. Some desi users too reported disruption while the outage was limited in the country. The issue allegedly caused by a website glitch has been resolved now. Several users took to X/Twitter, sharing screenshots of the error messages on their apps. The messages on the user's IG suggested updating the app after the bug is resolved in the backend.
