Steelers Analysts Predict 'Upgrade' Trade Move for Receiver at Deadline

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a solid start to the season, sitting at 5-2 and sharing the AFC North lead with the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Mike Tomlin's decision to start Russell Wilson paid off in their recent victory over the New York Jets, highlighting his skill in adapting and maximizing his team's potential.

However, despite their success, some analysts believe the Steelers could benefit from adding another wide receiver to support their passing game as they look to push past Baltimore.

In a recent appearance on the Scoop City Podcast, The Athletic's Dianna Russini shared her insight into potential moves the Steelers might explore before the trade deadline.

"I do, I think the Steelers are trying to do something," she remarked when asked if the team is eyeing a trade.

Russini went on to list a number of receivers who could fit Pittsburgh's needs, including Darius Slayton, Diontae Johnson, Christian Kirk, Demarcus Robinson, K.J. Osborn, Tyquan Thornton, and Kendrick Bourne.

Podcast host and former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel noted his interest in Slayton.

"I sort of liked Darius Slayton, and I was hoping that he would land with the Chiefs. He's a speed guy, got some quickness to him, got some quick twitch, pretty good hands. It really depends on what the Steelers are looking for. They got an outside guy with Pickens. They got Freiermuth over the middle of the field. I think Slayton would be an upgrade over Van Jefferson." said Daniel.

While the speculation is intriguing, the Steelers organization has not confirmed any intention of adding a new receiver. It remains likely they'll proceed with their current roster, but they could still surprise before the November 5 deadline. As Pittsburgh prepares for their Week 8 matchup against the New York Giants, all eyes will be on Wilson's continued development and T.J. Watt, who will look to exploit a Giants offensive line that has struggled to protect Daniel Jones this season.
