ELKINS, W.Va. (WBOY) -- After closing for air quality and water concerns and being on remote learning for most of the week, Elkins Middle School students will continue to be at home on Monday.
Multiple students were treated for carbon monoxide symptoms on Thursday, Oct. 25, and school was canceled the following Friday. After returning to school on Monday, school officials said students would be on remote learning the rest of the week. Now, that will continue until at least Monday, Nov. 4, the school district announced Friday.
Superintendent Shawn Dilly said as of Wednesday that all tests at the school have been within the normal range with "no carbon monoxide (CO) or other hazardous levels present." There have been at least six separate inspections, including air and water testing by the Elkins Fire Department, Fire Marshal, West Virginia Department of Education, and Army National Guard.
Results of the most recent testing are available on Randolph County School's website.
