A person was killed in a car crash Thursday morning in Mather, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said.
Emergency medical services were dispatched around 8:48 a.m. to Excelsior Road and Kiefer Boulevard in Sacramento County.
Two vehicles were involved, one caught fire with the driver inside pronounced dead at the scene, Sac Metro Fire said. The other car rolled over and the driver had minor injuries.
Excelsior Road just south of Westerly Drive was blocked as of 9:14 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said. No estimated time for when the roadway will fully reopen was given. Drivers should use alternative routes this time.
