Madison Police investigating report of gunshots at West Towne Mall

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - People are urged to avoid the West Towne Mall area after gunshots were reported there on Friday, the Madison Police Department said.

According to an incident report, police responded around 11:30 a.m. after gunshots were reportedly fired near the entrance by Sephora and the Cheesecake Factory.

Police said no injuries have been reported.

MPD Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.

An employee at JC Penny told WMTV 15 News that they were on lockdown and waiting for an all clear from police.

A shopper who was inside the mall at the time said they were evacuated.
