GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Walleye fishing on Green Bay and its tributaries could be financially rewarding.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is marking 400 fish with tags that are worth $100 rewards.
It is part of a study of the walleye fishery and an effort to learn more about what percentage of the fish's population is caught each year.
The DNR plans to tag fish while they spawn in Sturgeon Bay and the Fox, Oconto, Peshtigo and Menominee rivers. Up to 5,000 of those tags will be yellow. Reward tags will be red, with information on how to claim the reward.
Walleyes for Tomorrow is funding the tagging efforts.

Fish can be kept if they meet regulations including minimum size and season. Those that do not meet regulations must be released.
People fishing are encouraged to report fish caught with either yellow or red tags.
Those who report a yellow or green tag (from previous years) will receive information about the fish, including the date and location of tagging and the fish's size, sex and possibly age at the time of tagging.
