From how to vote to registration deadlines, here are five things to know about the November election.
Ventura County's elections chief urged last-minute voters to consider skipping the post office and drop off their ballots instead.
In previous elections, county officials rejected hundreds of vote-by-mail ballots because they had an invalid postmark or arrived too late. This time, ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by Nov. 5 and received at the elections office by Nov. 12.
In recent elections, roughly 99% of vote-by-mail ballots turned in were accepted, records show. Of those rejected in this year's primary, 1,152 in Ventura County and nearly 76,000 statewide were not received on time.
Voters can instead return ballots to an official drop-off box, a vote center or the county elections office, 800 S. Victoria Ave. in Ventura, by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Voters may also track their ballot by signing up at california.ballottrax.net/voter/. The system provides notifications by text, email or voice message about the status of a ballot, including when it is counted.
