WARREN -- With incredible sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of Rosetta Mae Daugherty Greathouse on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, at the age of 80, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rosetta was born Sept. 12, 1944, to Arthur Lloyd Daugherty and Gladys Mae Swango Daugherty. Born in Warren, Rosetta went on to become the first woman in the area to be a press room operator at the Tribune Chronicle, where she eventually retired in 1993.
Ro and her husband, John, moved to Independence, W.Va., in 1995, where they built a beautiful life in the Appalachian Mountains. Ro had many talents and enjoyed many hobbies.
Her favorite of those included singing, playing games, reading and spending time with her family. Rosetta's family will remember her for her great talent and creativity, especially when it came to telling stories around a campfire.
Rosetta will be remembered with love by her siblings, Emmanuel and Ellen; her children, Steven, Adam, Melissa, Denise, Jeannette, Lisa (Mike), Davey and Ramona (Dave); as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Rosetta follows in death her parents; her husband of 42 years, John Dale Greathouse Jr., and their children, Gary and Tina; her sister, Carmen; and brother, Ronald.
Services for Rosetta will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren, where visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service.
Rosetta will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, John Greathouse, who has been waiting for this moment since his passing on Aug. 30, 2024.
A dual graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, in Damon's Cemetery in Newburg, W.Va. Please meet at 10 a.m. at the Preston County Senior Citizens Center, 36 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, WV 26410, and we will proceed to the cemetery together.
