FRISCO - New Dallas Cowboys receiver Jonathan Mingo is getting a lot of new information thrown at him since arriving here at The Star via trade from the Carolina Panthers.
With the young receiver now a part of Mike McCarthy's offense, job No. 1 is to get him comfortable in the system, and that takes time. Unfortunately, Mingo doesn't have much of it, especially if he's asked to play against the Philadelphia Eagles.
But McCarthy has detailed how he is approaching getting Mingo up to speed on how the offense is run.
"You hope there is some carryover from language from past experiences, he's been in different systems the last couple years," McCarthy said on 105.3 The Fan. "So now he has a new language, so just trying to find a common area of his experience from a language standpoint. We've integrated him into practice just to try to get him into the flow of the huddle and give him certain plays. But it's a process and then you got to try to find a package of things that you can put him into to get started, then there's going to be some communication by his teammates in the huddle [to help him]."
While it is unknown if Mingo will suit up against the Eagles, McCarthy is doing his best to get the young receiver up to speed as quickly as possible to get Jonathan as close to "game ready" as possible.
With Brandin Cooks still limping a bit, Cooper Rush will have CeeDee Lamb, Jalen Tolbert, Jake Ferguson, and Jalen Brooks as his targets against the Eagles. Hopefully, Mingo can be added to that list.

Not much will be expected if Mingo does suit up, but the learning he's done over the last couple of days hopefully will allow him to be a viable option in the passing game as the Cowboys look to get this troubled train back on the tracks.
