Recalled meat possibly tainted with listeria was distributed to 200 schools: Here's the list

Some of the more than 11 million pounds of meat and poultry products under recall because of possible listeria contamination was shipped to schools across the eastern U.S.

The meat was distributed from a Durant, Oklahoma, facility owned by BrucePac, which is headquartered in Oregon. No Oregon schools were included in the distribution list produced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

No illness has been linked to the recall, but officials raised alarms over its size and how widely products containing the tainted products were distributed.

The ready-to-eat meat was used as an ingredient in private-label products sold in stores across the country, as well as in dishes served in restaurants -- and in school cafeterias.

The meat under recall was processed between June 19 and Oct. 8.

Here's the complete, searchable list of potentially affected schools.

Listeria infection, known as listeriosis, can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, as well as diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms. It can cause miscarriages or premature delivery during pregnancy and can be fatal for people with weakened immune systems. It is treated with antibiotics.
