Danny Kanell Warns College Football Playoff Picks Will Be Biased

Tuesday night marks the release of the first 2024 College Football Playoff rankings.

With the field expanding to 12 teams, meaning eight more teams will be included, you would think it would limit the amount of outside debate. That might not be the case though, and at least one college football media personality is sounding the alarm against what he considers biased "power rankings."

In a video a 2:19 video released on social media, Kanell warned against the committee trying to "manipulate who gets in and who's left out."

"In a season where we've seen more parity than ever before, we've seen teams fall well short of expectations that had 'loaded rosters' with high expectations. We've seen them fall apart," Kanell said. "We've seen Alabama lose to Vanderbilt. We saw a very average Florida team go toe-to-toe with Georgia. We've seen it across college football, and yet, we see power rankings show up that still give credit to those teams that came into the season with high expectations and doesn't give teams that didn't the recognition they deserve."

Kanell has long railed against perceived pro-SEC bias in college football. In this video, he mentioned Indiana, a Big Ten program that has taken college football by storm this season.

The Hoosiers have now climbed to No. 8 in the AP poll after throttling Michigan State 47-10 on Saturday.

"Don't let them disrespect a team like Indiana and try to keep them down in the rankings and say they haven't played everybody," Kanell said. "They are 9-0, nine games into the season, have not lost and have won every game by two touchdowns or more. If they were the Buckeyes or they wore the Maize and Blue, Indiana would be ranked 1, 2, or 3."

Kanell also said to "watch the narrative" as people try to minimize the success of teams in the ACC or Big 12 at the expense of the SEC or "blue bloods."

The first set of CFP rankings for this season will be released at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday night on ESPN.

We will guarantee that Kanell will have something to say about them shortly after they are announced.
