The event was headlined by the first match between John Cena and The Rock. Before Cena came out, MGK performed one of the official theme songs for the event, 'Invincible', with Skyler Gray standing in for Ester Dean.
Near the end of the performance, MGK spoke to the crowd and said that the biggest underdog (John Cena) will beat one of the biggest egos (The Rock). The crowd heavily booed MGK for the statement as he left the stage for Cena's entrance.
While speaking to Adrian Hernandez for a new interview, MGK first talked about wearing a Cleveland shirt during the performance. Just two years before WrestleMania 28, Lebron James made the controversial decision to leave Cleveland to join the Miami Heat.
"I'll never forget it. I definitely kind of did that on purpose just to put us on a platform of like, nah, we're still here standing tall speaking to the world."
Then, MGK recalled getting booed and said that he didn't know that The Rock was from Miami at the time.
"The funniest thing that I did was not know that Miami was The Rock's hometown so when I went out there and was like dogging The Rock and everyone started booing, I was like, 'What did I do?' I never heard 80,000 boos come in at one time but that was my first experience and kinda broke me in to where I was like, 'Alright, I gotta have thick skin.'"
Earlier this year, Fightful Select issued a report on the alleged incident between MGK and Randy Orton at WWE SummerSlam. Learn more by clicking here.
The Rock last appeared in WWE at the Bad Blood premium live event, coming out after the match between Cody Rhodes/Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa/Jacob Fatu.
