Raleigh middle school students create AI chat bot

A classroom to career program at Granville T. Woods Academy Of Innovation Charter School in Raleigh is using AI in the classroom with the help of Vista Data.

It is created and taught by Reggie Manning and Luka Perkovic. The co-owners of Vista Data brought the technology from Croatia to Raleigh in Memphis.

"Learning, coding, paint mechanics, all those are skill sets that we're capable of learning, but really we just lack the access to it. Being able to take some of this technology that we brought from Europe to Memphis, (we show) students (that) you're doing the same thing they're doing around the world." said Reggie Manning, Co-founder Vista Data.

Kortney Anthony and her classmates created a chat bot for Greater Memphis Chamber's website. As you type a question, 'GMC bot' quickly lets you know that GTW students created it. Josefat Maldonado is creating a chat bot for another Memphis organization.

"So we took information from the website and the interviews that we have with them. And we put it into like a flowchart. A flowchart is like a diagram. And once we did that we put into the chat bot" said Anthony, 8th grader. "I feel proud of myself, because I know I got to be a part of something great."
