Manchester City take Sparta Prague tonight at the Etihad in Champions League action. Pep Guardiola's side will be looking for their second win of the revamped league phase. They will take on Sparta Prague who also enter the game with four points from their opening two games. Another big night of Champions League action awaits at the Etihad tonight.
Manchester City have several injury concerns heading into tonight's match. Firstly, Rodri and Oscar Bobb are out of tonight's match with long-term injuries.
Pep Guardiola told the media yesterday that Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker will miss tonight's match. Kevin De Bruyne is on the comeback trail from a groin injury. The Belgian international isn't fit enough to return to the pitch just yet. Kyle Walker picked a knee issue while on international duty for England. City's captain is out of tonight's match and his return is unknown at this stage.
There was late news yesterday with Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish failing to train yesterday. Their availability for tonight's match is unknown at this stage.
Ederson- I can't see Ederson not being in goal tonight. There's a case for Stefan Ortega to start but I believe Ederson will be in goal.
Rico Lewis- With Kyle Walker it seems that Lewis will once again start. He has been outstanding so far this season and that should see him start at right-back tonight.
Ruben Dias- Dias has returned to his best this season and will likely start tonight.
Manuel Akanji- I believe that John Stones will be rested and Akanji will line up alongside Ruben Dias at the back.
Josko Gvardiol- The Croatian international is City's first choice left-back and with Nathan Ake working his way back to full fitness he should again against Sparta Prague.
Mateo Kovacic- Kovacic is now crucial to City's midfield and he should resume his role in midfield tonight.
Matheus Nunes- Nunes put in a crucial cameo performance against Wolves. Tonight could be the night for him to make an impression in midfield.
Phil Foden- Foden is slowly returning to his best and I believe he'll start against Sparta Prague.
James McAtee- At some point James McAtee needs a start to kick start his season. That could come tonight given the fact that City have so many players out or in doubt for tonight's match.
Savinho- The Brazilian winger had his moments against Wolves. With Doku and Grealish in doubt that should see him start on either the right or the left wing.
Erling Haaland- An automatic selection. Hopefully Haaland can make a big impact during tonight's game.
