Elk Grove Police: Juvenile Faces Multiple Charges After Crash On Meacham

Elk Grove Village police announced charges Thursday (Oct. 17) against an unidentified minor related to a Sept. 25 crash at Meacham Road and California Street that hospitalized two drivers with serious injuries.

Police said the juvenile, driving a Chevrolet Camaro, appeared to be racing a white Porsche southbound on Meacham Road when it collided with a GMC Sierra turning left onto westbound California at about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Police said the Camaro's data computer and witness statements indicated the vehicle was traveling 69 mph in a 45 mph zone at the time of the collision.

The juvenile was petitioned to the Cook County Juvenile Justice Center on charges of aggravated speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and reckless conduct. Police said they did not have enough evidence to charge the driver of the Porsche.

The driver of the Camaro was transported to the hospital immediately from the scene with serious injuries, police said. The driver of the GMC transported themselves to an area hospital the following day, and the driver of the Porsche was not injured.
